Hand Lettering Card Series
Hand lettering has become an obsession of mine. I’ve always loved to draw my own inspirational quotes but never knew hand lettering was so big. I decided to combine my love of hand lettering with my hatred of Valentine’s Day and created “Anti-Valentine’s Day” cards.
For the style of this card series I wanted to stick with the original colors associated with this time of year: pinks and reds. I wanted the typography to be the star of the show with a simple illustration to be a supporting role. Design drivers I focused on were: simple, contrast, monochromatic, organic, natural and, of course, love. I practiced a lot when it came to hand lettering. For these cards I wanted the typography to have a pattern: script then san sarif type to give it contrast. I did my own hand lettering throughout every card and also my own illustrations.
This was a school project.
